When contractors ask about asphalt plant capacity, the real question is usually simpler: can the plant keep my paver fed on the day I need it? At Engineered Asphalt Materials, the answer comes from planning your order with our team ahead of time, so production, loadout and your trucking line up.
We do not publish a single output number, because what matters is your mix, your tonnage and the schedule that day. Call the plant at (772) 494-6077 to confirm what we can produce for your dates.
What really limits supply on a paving day
Plant output is only one link in the chain. On a large pour, supply to the paver depends on several things at once:
- The mix itself. Different gradations and binder grades can affect how production is run. A polymer-modified surface or a specialty mix needs planning.
- The production schedule. Orders are filled first come, first served, so other jobs booked the same day matter.
- Loadout speed. How quickly trucks are loaded and weighed sets the pace of your truck cycle.
- Haul distance and trucking. The number of trucks you run and the drive time to your site often limit tonnage more than the plant does.
- Weather. Florida rain can stop paving with little warning, which changes demand across every job in the area.
How our Gencor plant supports steady production
Our Vero Beach facility is a modern, Gencor-equipped plant. Gencor equipment is known for stable temperature control, heat efficiency and precise mix control. For a contractor running a long day, that means consistent batch to batch output, so the mix behaves the same at the end of the shift as it did at the start.
Consistent batching also supports fast load times. Trucks are loaded and weighed over FDOT Certified scales, then sent back on the road without delays.
A local plant shortens the truck cycle
Capacity at the plant means little if trucks spend too long on the road. Our central Vero Beach location serves Indian River, Brevard, St. Lucie and Martin counties. Shorter hauls mean each truck can make more round trips in a shift, and the mix arrives warmer and more workable.
When you plan a big pour, count trucks against haul time. A short haul with a steady truck rotation often moves more tonnage than a long haul with extra trucks.
How to plan a large order
- Estimate tonnage. Use our asphalt tonnage calculator to get a starting number from length, width and thickness, then confirm density for your mix with the plant.
- Confirm the mix. Settle the gradation and binder grade early. Our specifications page lists standard mixes, and our team will confirm current availability.
- Call early. Lead time depends on your mix and our current production schedule. The earlier we know, the easier it is to plan production around your job.
- Share your hourly need. Tell us how many tons per hour your paver and crew can place, so we can plan loading pace to match.
- Line up trucking. Delivery can be arranged through local trucking partners, and we can connect you with haulers if needed.
- Agree on a start time. Plant pickup hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Weekend and after-hours pickup is available by request.
Large jobs we support
Our production and technical support serve road and highway contractors, municipal road departments, developers, commercial builders and HOA road managers. Typical larger uses include new roadway construction, road resurfacing, parking lots and commercial pads, and community paving.
Whether you are bidding a municipal job or planning a large development, our team can help work out quantities, mix types and timing so your crew stays efficient from start to finish. Learn more on our services page.
Splitting a big job into manageable days
Very large projects rarely need everything at once. Breaking the work into phases by area or by layer makes production easier to plan and protects you from losing a full day of material to a storm. A base course one day and a surface course another, or one section of a subdivision at a time, keeps each order sized to what your crew can place and compact well. Share the phase plan with our team so production can follow it.
