This asphalt plant FAQ gathers what contractors need to know about ordering, picking up and choosing a mix at Engineered Asphalt Materials (EAM) in Vero Beach. In short: call or text the plant to confirm your mix and pickup window, pick up Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm, and lean on the team when you are not sure which mix fits.
Ordering
Orders start with a call or text to (772) 494-6077, or a request through the contact page. A phone number is needed so the team can confirm your mix and pickup window, and adding an email gets you written confirmation.
- Order ahead. Placing your order early lets the plant schedule production so your mix is hot and ready when you arrive.
- Lead time varies. It depends on the mix you need and the current production schedule.
- Minimums vary. Order requirements depend on the mix type and production run, so ask about your specific material.
- Pricing is quoted by phone. Call or text for current pricing and availability for your mix.
- Payment and accounts. Talk with the team about accepted payment methods and account setup.
EAM serves both contractors and private customers, depending on tonnage needs.
Estimating quantity
Before you call, estimate your tons with the asphalt tonnage calculator. Enter length, width and thickness, and the tool returns estimated tons using a standard compacted density of 145 pounds per cubic foot. You can adjust the density for your mix. The plant team can also help with road resurfacing tonnage, parking lot tonnage and driveway measurements.
Plant pickup
Pickup happens at 500 2nd St SW, Vero Beach, FL 32962.

Delivery
EAM is set up for plant pickup. If you need the mix brought to the job, delivery can be arranged through local trucking partners, and the plant can connect you with preferred haulers.
Service area
The plant serves Indian River, Brevard, St. Lucie and Martin counties. That covers Vero Beach, Sebastian, Fellsmere, Gifford, Melbourne, Palm Bay, Fort Pierce, Port St. Lucie, Stuart and surrounding Treasure Coast communities.
Mix selection
EAM produces hot mix asphalt, Superpave grades, polymer-modified mixes, base mixes, specialty mixes and RAP blends. The plant's selection guide matches common applications to mixes:
- Heavily traveled roads: Superpave or polymer-modified
- Residential streets: SP-9.5 or SP-12.5
- Commercial pads and parking: SP-12.5 or SP-19
- HOA and private roads: SP-19 base with SP-9.5 surface
- Pothole and repair work: SP-9.5 fine surface mix
Binders
Performance-graded binder options include PG 64-22 and PG 67-22, both standard grades, and PG 76-22, a polymer-modified grade for high-stress duty such as intersections, trucking routes and industrial facilities.
Specialty and recycled mixes
Specialty mixes include open-graded friction course for high-speed and wet roads, stone matrix asphalt for highways and arterials, and porous asphalt for parking lots and stormwater management. RAP-blended mixes add recycled asphalt pavement to hot mix as a cost-efficient, sustainable option.
Specs are confirmed per project. Check the specifications page for gradations and binders, then call to confirm current availability.
Specifications and quality
EAM produces mixes that meet FDOT specifications depending on project requirements. Mixes are sampled and tested during production, temperatures and consistency are monitored batch to batch, and documentation is available to support contractor, developer and municipal requirements.
Thickness basics
As a planning guide, 1.5 to 2 inches is typical for an overlay on a sound existing surface, and 3 inches or more for new construction and heavy traffic. Structural work is built in layers, such as an SP-19 base under an SP-9.5 surface. Confirm the exact section for your job with your engineer and the plant.
