Our standard asphalt plant hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, with orders filled first come, first served. Weekend and after-hours pickup is available by request, so if your job has to run at night or on a Saturday, call the plant early and we will work out whether we can support it.
This guide covers why off-hours paving comes up, what to plan before you ask, and how to schedule it with our Vero Beach team.
Why contractors pave outside normal hours
Daytime weekday work covers most jobs, but some projects simply cannot close a lane or a lot during business hours. Common reasons include:
- Traffic control. Busy roads and intersections may only allow lane closures at night.
- Commercial lots. Retail and office parking often has to stay open during the week.
- Owner restrictions. Schools, medical sites and communities may limit when crews can work.
- Weather recovery. After a run of rainy afternoons, a weekend shift can help a schedule catch up.
- Heat. Cooler evening temperatures can be easier on crews during a Florida summer.
Standard plant pickup hours
Here is how a normal week works at 500 2nd St SW in Vero Beach:
- Plant pickup runs Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.
- Orders are filled first come, first served.
- Hours can vary based on production schedule and project demand, so contact our team to confirm daily availability.
- Placing your order ahead of time helps us schedule production and have your mix hot and ready when you arrive.
How to request weekend or after-hours pickup
Off-hours production takes more coordination than a standard weekday load, so the earlier we hear from you, the better. Follow these steps:
- Call as soon as the schedule is known. Reach the plant at (772) 494-6077. Do not wait for the week of the job.
- Give us the window. Share the date, the start time, and when you expect the last truck.
- Confirm the mix. Tell us the gradation and binder grade. Check our specifications page for standard mixes, then confirm availability with our team.
- Estimate tonnage. Run your numbers through the asphalt tonnage calculator so we can plan production volume.
- Plan your trucks. Let us know how many trucks you will run and how far the haul is. If you need trucking, we can connect you with local haulers.
- Reconfirm before the shift. Weather and other jobs can shift plans. A quick call before the day keeps everyone on the same page.
What to know about night paving with hot mix
Night work changes conditions on the mat. A few general points to plan around:
- Cooling. Lower air and surface temperatures can cool the mat faster, which shortens the window for compaction. Keep rollers close to the paver.
- Haul time. Keep trucks moving and use tarps so the load holds temperature on the way to the site.
- Lighting. Good lighting at the paver, rollers and truck exchange helps the crew read the mat and work safely.
- Moisture. Dew and late showers can leave the surface damp. Do not place hot mix on standing water, and make sure tack coat has set.
Plant safety still applies after hours
Our plant safety rules apply on every shift. All drivers and visitors must wear a hard hat, vest, boots and eye protection, follow plant signs and loader directions, and stay in the designated truck lanes and truck lines. Brief your drivers before an off-hours run so the loadout moves quickly and safely.
Make weekday pickups faster too
Even on a normal weekday, a little planning saves time at the plant:
- Order ahead so your mix is hot and ready.
- Arrive in the window you confirmed with our team.
- Have drivers ready with the right PPE.
- Know your tonnage before you roll in, so loading is quick and accurate over our FDOT Certified scales.
Common off-hours scenarios
A few situations come up often for Treasure Coast crews:
- Intersection resurfacing. Work happens overnight under lane closures, with a fixed window to open the road by morning. Tonnage and truck rotation need to be planned tightly so the last load arrives in time to finish.
- Retail parking lots. Owners often want paving done when stores are closed. Sections are paved in sequence so parts of the lot can reopen.
- Catch-up weekends. After a wet week, a Saturday shift can recover lost days on a deadline job.
In each case, the key is the same: call early, confirm the mix and window, and reconfirm before the shift. The plant can only support off-hours work it knows about.
Serving four counties from Vero Beach
Our central Vero Beach location keeps hauls short for crews in Indian River, Brevard, St. Lucie and Martin counties, including Vero Beach, Sebastian, Fellsmere, Melbourne, Palm Bay, Fort Pierce, Port St. Lucie and Stuart. Shorter hauls help mix arrive workable, which matters even more on a cool night shift.
