Asphalt quality control at Engineered Asphalt Materials happens on site, while the mix is being made, not after a problem shows up on your job. Our Vero Beach team samples, tests and monitors production so the material that leaves the plant matches the specification it was built for.
For contractors, engineers and public works buyers on the Treasure Coast, that means fewer surprises at the paver and better documentation when an inspector asks for it.
Why quality control starts at the plant
Most pavement problems trace back to one of a few things: the wrong gradation, the wrong binder content, poor temperature, or poor compaction in the field. The first three are set at the plant. If the mix leaves the silo out of spec, no amount of rolling will fix it.
That is why we treat quality control as part of production instead of a separate step. Every mix we make is monitored and checked in house, so issues can be caught and corrected before material ever reaches your crew.
What our on-site quality program covers
Our quality program runs alongside production at the Gencor-equipped plant. It includes:
- Sampling and testing during production. Mix samples are pulled and tested while the plant is running, not only at the start of a day.
- Temperature monitoring. Mix temperatures are watched from batch to batch, because temperature drives workability and compaction on your job.
- Consistency checks. We track batch to batch output so the tenth load of the day behaves like the first.
- Checks against project specifications. Material is compared to the specification required for each job, whether that is a Superpave gradation, a base mix or a specialty surface.
- Documentation. We keep records that support contractor, developer and municipal requirements.
How Gencor equipment supports consistent mix
Our plant runs on Gencor equipment, which is known for stable temperature control, clean operation and precise mix control. Good equipment does not replace testing, but it narrows the variation testing has to catch. A plant that holds temperature and proportions steadily gives the quality team a tighter, more predictable product to verify.
The result is DOT-grade material that contractors can specify with confidence. We produce mixes that meet FDOT specifications depending on project requirements, and we confirm the right spec for your job before production.
Accurate tickets from FDOT Certified scales
Quality is also about quantity. Trucks are loaded over FDOT Certified scales, so every ticket reflects exactly what your truck is carrying. That matters when you are reconciling tonnage against a bid, a pay item or a calculated estimate.
What quality control means on your job
Plant quality control shows up in the field in practical ways:
- Mix arrives at a predictable temperature, so your crew can plan rolling patterns.
- Load to load consistency helps the screed hold a uniform mat.
- Gradation and binder that match the spec reduce the risk of rutting, raveling or early cracking under Florida heat and heavy seasonal traffic.
- Records are available when an engineer or owner asks how the material was produced.
Field practices still count. Haul time, tack coat, lift thickness and compaction all sit with the paving crew. Our job is to hand you a mix that gives those practices the best chance to work.
Working with engineers and public works buyers
If your project has specific testing or reporting requirements, tell us before production starts. Our technical support team can help confirm mix types, quantities and timing, and we can talk through what documentation your project needs. Review our standard mixes and binder grades on the specifications page, then call to confirm current availability for your job.
A simple checklist for spec-sensitive jobs
When quality really matters on a job, a short checklist before production helps both sides:
- Send the mix type, gradation and binder grade from the specification.
- Flag any testing frequency or reporting the owner or engineer requires.
- Confirm the tonnage and pickup window so production can be planned.
- Tell us about haul distance, since it affects arrival temperature.
- Name the person on your side who should receive documentation.
Getting these details to the plant early lets our quality team know exactly what to check, and keeps paperwork from becoming a last minute scramble.
Mixes we check before they ship
Our quality process applies across the materials we produce, including:
- Hot mix asphalt, including BM-1 base mix
- Superpave gradations SP-9.5, SP-12.5 and SP-19
- Performance-graded binders, including polymer-modified PG 76-22
- Specialty surfaces such as open-graded friction course, stone matrix asphalt and porous asphalt
- RAP-blended mixes
See the full lineup on our products page. Specs and availability are confirmed per project.
