Engineered Asphalt Materials (EAM) is an asphalt supplier for Martin County contractors, with hot mix and Superpave mixes produced at our Gencor-equipped plant in Vero Beach. Martin County, including Stuart and the surrounding communities, is the southern end of our four-county service area.
Planning a Martin County job around the plant
Martin County work often comes with a longer run from the plant than jobs closer to Vero Beach, so planning matters. The goal is simple: mix that arrives at the paver at the right temperature, a truck rotation that keeps the paver moving, and no wasted loads. A few habits help:
- Order ahead. Placing your order early lets us schedule production so your mix is hot and ready when the first truck pulls in.
- Size the fleet to the haul. Count round trips, not just tons, when deciding how many trucks you need to keep the paver fed.
- Tarp every load. Covered beds hold heat on the road, especially on breezy coastal days.
- Watch the weather. Afternoon storms in summer can shut down a job fast. Early starts protect the schedule.
Our plant is set up to help on our end. Fast load times get trucks filled and moving, and FDOT Certified scales mean every ticket reflects exactly what the truck is carrying.
Mixes for coastal Martin County conditions
Pavement in Martin County lives with high heat, heavy rain and seasonal traffic swings. Our lineup is built for those conditions. Availability is confirmed per project, so check with the plant before specifying.
- Superpave SP-9.5, SP-12.5 and SP-19 for surface, structural and base layers.
- PG 76-22 polymer-modified asphalt, which flexes under load, resists rutting and holds its stability at high pavement temperatures.
- Open-graded friction course for improved drainage and reduced hydroplaning on wet, high-speed roads.
- Porous asphalt for parking areas where stormwater management is part of the design.
- Stone matrix asphalt for highways and arterials that need rut resistance and long life.
- HMA, BM-1 base mix and RAP-blended mixes for everyday paving and base work.
Detailed gradations and binder options are on our specifications page.
Typical Martin County applications
We supply crews working on a wide range of projects in the county:
- Road resurfacing and new roadway construction
- Community and HOA paving, often an SP-19 base with an SP-9.5 surface
- Commercial pads and parking lots, usually SP-12.5 or SP-19
- Driveways and private lanes
- Utility and patch work with SP-9.5 fine surface mix
If your project falls outside these, describe the application and traffic and our team will recommend the right mix type and grade.
Quality you can document
Public agencies, engineers and developers in Martin County often want proof that material matched the spec. Our on-site quality program covers sampling and testing during production, temperature and consistency monitoring batch to batch, checks against each project's specification, and documentation to support contractor, developer and municipal requirements. Because testing happens in-house, issues can be caught and corrected before the material reaches your crew.
Who we work with in Martin County
Our customers here look a lot like the rest of the Treasure Coast: paving contractors, developers and site contractors, commercial builders, utility contractors, municipal road departments, and HOA and private-road management teams. Some need a few loads of surface mix for a repair; others need a steady supply across a multi-week project. Either way, tell us the scope early and we can help you work out quantities, mix types and timing so your crew stays efficient.
We also sell to private customers, depending on tonnage needs. If you manage a private road or a gated community and are not sure where to start, call and describe the job.
Pickup, delivery and hours
The plant is at 500 2nd St SW, Vero Beach, FL 32962. Pickup hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, first come, first served. Weekend and after-hours loading is available by request.
If you would rather not haul it yourself, delivery can be arranged through local trucking partners, and we can connect you with preferred haulers.
Estimate, then call
Run your numbers through the asphalt tonnage calculator first. Enter length, width and thickness and it returns estimated tons. Then call the plant to confirm density, final quantity and timing.
