VERO BEACH, Fla. Engineered Asphalt Materials (EAM), a Gencor-equipped hot mix asphalt plant in Vero Beach, now accepts asphalt mix design service requests online. Contractors, engineers and public works buyers in Indian River, Brevard, St. Lucie and Martin counties can describe a project through a short form and receive a follow-up from the plant team.
How the request works
The mix design request form is available on the company's contact page and home page. It asks for a name, company, phone number, email and project details. A phone number lets the team confirm the mix and pickup window, and an email can be added for written confirmation.
Useful details to include are the application, expected traffic, the layer being paved, any gradation or binder named on the plans, and an estimated tonnage.
The form gives estimators and project managers a way to start the conversation outside plant hours. A request sent in the evening or over the weekend is waiting for the team when the plant opens, so the mix discussion does not hold up a bid or a paving schedule.
What the team can recommend
EAM's mix design service covers guidance on mix selection and adjusting blends to meet performance or environmental requirements. Based on the application, the team can recommend the mix type, grade, tonnage and scheduling. Options listed on the company's specifications page include:
- Superpave gradations SP-9.5, SP-12.5 and SP-19
- Performance-graded binders PG 64-22 and PG 67-22, and polymer-modified PG 76-22
- BM-1 base mix
- Open-graded friction course, stone matrix asphalt and porous asphalt
- RAP-blended mixes
Availability is confirmed per project.
Planning tools
The request form joins the free asphalt tonnage calculator on the EAM website, which estimates hot mix tons from length, width and thickness. Contractors can estimate quantities first, then submit a mix design request with those numbers.
