Road Asphalt Supplier for Road and Subdivision Work on the Treasure Coast

Engineered Asphalt Materials is a road asphalt supplier in Vero Beach that produces base mix, Superpave structural and surface mixes, and polymer-modified mix for roads and subdivisions across Indian River, Brevard, St. Lucie and Martin counties. Contractors pick up at the plant or arrange hauling through local trucking partners.

Who we supply for road work

Road projects come from many directions, and the plant works with the people who build and maintain them:

Mixes for each layer of a road

A road is built in layers, and each layer has a job. The plant produces mixes for all of them.

Base and structural layers

BM-1 is listed as a base mix for base course work. SP-19, with a 19 mm nominal maximum aggregate size, serves as a structural or base layer that carries load down to the foundation.

Surface courses

SP-12.5 works as a surface or structural mix, and SP-9.5 is a fine surface mix that gives a tight finish. The plant's mix selection guide points to SP-9.5 or SP-12.5 for residential streets.

Heavily traveled roads

For roads that carry heavy or frequent traffic, the guide recommends Superpave mixes and polymer-modified mixes. PG 76-22 polymer-modified binder is built for flexing under load and holding its shape at intersections and under stop-and-go traffic.

Specialty surfaces

Specialty mixes are confirmed per project. Check gradations and binders on the specifications page, then call to confirm availability.

Subdivision streets and HOA roads

For HOA and private roads, the plant's guide recommends an SP-19 base with an SP-9.5 surface. That pairing gives the road a strong structural layer and a smooth, tight wearing surface for residents.

New subdivisions often pave in stages. A structural lift goes down while homes are under construction and carries the building traffic, then the final surface course is placed later. If your project works this way, plan both phases with the plant so the mix and timing are lined up for each.

Resurfacing and overlays

For an overlay on a sound existing road, 1.5 to 2 inches is a typical thickness. Good bond to the old surface depends on a clean, tacked surface, and TAC (tack coat) is available from the plant. For pothole and repair work, the selection guide lists SP-9.5 fine surface mix.

Public works and spec compliance

EAM produces mixes that meet FDOT specifications depending on project requirements, and DOT-grade materials are offered where applicable. Quality control happens on site at the plant:

Trucks are loaded over FDOT Certified scales, so every ticket reflects exactly what the truck is carrying. That makes it easier to reconcile quantities on a public job.

Keeping a paving day on schedule

Road work runs on truck cycles. A central Vero Beach plant keeps haul distances short across the four-county service area, and the Gencor plant is set up for consistent batching and quick loadout. Placing your order ahead of time helps the plant schedule production so your mix is hot and ready when trucks arrive. Lead time depends on the mix and the production schedule, so call as early as you can.

Plant pickup runs Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, first come, first served, with weekend and after-hours pickup by request. Learn more about production, loadout and technical support on the services page.

Estimating road tonnage

Road resurfacing tonnage is one of the things the plant team can help you work out. For a first pass, enter length, width and thickness for each lift in the asphalt tonnage calculator, then confirm density and final quantity with the plant before ordering.

Common questions

What mix do you recommend for an HOA or private road?

The plant's selection guide recommends an SP-19 base with an SP-9.5 surface for HOA and private roads. Confirm the final section against the engineer's plans.

Do your mixes meet FDOT specifications?

EAM produces mixes that meet FDOT specifications depending on project requirements. Call the plant with your spec so the team can confirm the mix.

Can you supply municipal and county road jobs?

Yes. Municipal road departments and county governments are among the customers the plant works with, and on-site testing documentation supports municipal requirements.

Which areas do you supply road asphalt to?

Indian River, Brevard, St. Lucie and Martin counties, including Vero Beach, Sebastian, Fort Pierce, Port St. Lucie, Stuart, Melbourne and Palm Bay.

Can I get mix outside normal plant hours for road work?

Standard pickup is Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Weekend and after-hours pickup is available by request, so call ahead to arrange it.
